But now we have a confirmation from Confirmed: iPad 3 Has a 2048x1536 Retina Display - MacRumors that iPad 3 will be sporting a high resolution retina display. The Raw iPad 3 Display Obtained by MacRumors

The site seems to have obtained a raw iPad 3 display from its manufacturer for examination but sadly the display could not be powered on. But some physical examination of the display suggests that the display is of 9.7-inch diagonally, which is of same size as iPad 1 and iPad 2. And there doesn't seems to be any difference from any angle.

But under the microscope the story is quite different. The iPad 3's display seems to have double the amount of pixels when compared to iPad 2. Upon highlighting four pixels (2 x 2) from iPad 2 to compare with the iPad 3's display, the cluster doubled to 16 pixels (4 x 4), confirming the rumour of a higher resolution display.

So during the launch event next month, we can expect an iPad with Retina display and a resolution of 2048 x 1536. We can also expect LTE support for the device along with a quad-core A6 processor.
