According to the App Store Competitive Index data, December 2011 showed 6.04 million daily app downloads from the top 200 free U.S. applications compared to November 2011 which recorded 5.65 millions. December is a strategically critical month of apps discovery, said Micah Adler, CEO Fiksu. In addition, the advertisers have spent a lot of money after advertising and marketing the modern apps as compared to those old ones, which led to the substantial increase in traffic and downloads from various app stores.

At times it becomes very difficult for the advertisers to get any app for promoting, in the best possible position before the freeze occurs. During the App Store freeze, Apple takes a break from its daily busy schedule and blocks any new app submission and updates. Fiksu even reported that, on the Christmas day itself, there were more than 6.8 million new iPhone and Android devices crawling into peoples’ pockets.

At the end, Fiksu also measures the Cost to Acquire Loyal customers for mobile applications and the latest reports revealed that December 2011 recorded the highest figure of $1.81 per user as compared to November’s $1.43. The company analyses data from more than 11 billion apps including app launches and activation which serves as the best platform for maintaining app usage statistics.
