iOS 6 Beta 2 Out For Developers OTA; Updates & Features At A Glance

Apple iOS 6 is making rounds of tech blogs for quite some time now. Today, Apple pushed the iOS 6.0 Beta 2 update OTA to the developers who had the devices running iOS 6 beta 1 through a push notification. Not just that, Apple also updated Xcode 4.5 developer preview 2 and Apple TV beta 2. As per the reports, iOS 6 beta 2 update is sized at 299MB on the iPhone 4 and 497MB on the iPad 3. So, even though we are reading things about iOS 6 like #-Link-Snipped-# or #-Link-Snipped-# or the #-Link-Snipped-#, here we have a lot of new features in the iOS 6 Beta 2 release.

Some of them are addition of toggle control in Photos & iCloud settings page. The Cellular settings page also has a toggle for syncing Reading List over 3G below the iCloud Documents and iTunes switches. Twitter app users will see the "new twitter icon" across iOS 6.

Another major update is the 'Guided Access' feature. It stops the Home button from working and locks the device into whatever app it is currently running. While in this mode, users can disable any portion of the screen that they don’t want others messing with, or disable the touchscreen and motion sensors entirely. Do you guys remember the Smart Banners from iOS 6 Keynote that allowed promotion of apps as a banner on the top of the screen? You can see them in this update .

Apart from all this there must be a ton load of tweaks left to be explored. Like for instance, you don't need to manually type your current location for the Maps application to offer you directions. It does that automatically. Share with us more updates in comments.
