An issue with CFNetwork handling of maliciously crafted websites and URLs which would make the device access incorrect server has been fixed. A security issue was discovered with the 'CoreGraphics' which would execute malicious code if a document containing maliciously crafted font is opened on your device. This has also been fixed in the 5.0.1 update. There have been improvements on the data security front. The update fixes an issue which would allow a hacker with a privileged network position get access to user credentials and other sensitive information. The update also addresses issues with the Kernel which would make it execute unsigned code. One of the most important security fixes in the new update is that if user with physical access to iPad with smart cover opens it while iPad is confirming the power off (in the locked state), it won't ask for passcode. This would easily give access to all the data on iPad to anyone.

Other important updates included in iOS 5.0.1 are improved document syncing and better voice recognition when dictating with an Aussie accent. Users may opt to download the delta pack with only the improvements. Others may go for regular update via iTunes which is whooping 799 MB burden on your telephone lines.
