Indian Marriages: Spending lavishly - a bane or boon !!!

Bade dhoom dhaam se shaadi,”most common phrases in India! There is not much concentration on marriage as on the Wedding Day Event!.........
What will they say about the invitation card?” “What will they say about the food?” “What will they say about the clothes?”. Throughout our life we are concentrated on wedding date ..
When a child is just born, wedding is simultaneously planned....heard these statements: “
Meri beti engineer se shaadi karegi.” .........

A marriage event is a sign of the rich poor divide, where a crore is the budget of many. .....each middle class house-hold at an average is spending Rs..15 lakhs ! .................Had this amount we have invested!
.......Our motherland would have been more glorious and prosperous than ever she was!

According to Indians, Marriage is sort of celebrations. And we spend our life time savings for marriage only. But I cant relate the rich poor division with it. Boon or bane, depends on the persons income.

    I like Indian Marriage model:
They spend so much of money on 1st marriage that can't afford to get divorce or can thing of second marriage, and have to stuck whole life with this bond. ☕

If we ban, such thing. Do you think this money will help reach the poor. Exactly not, This money will turn into a property in terms of land, gold or some fixed deposit.

Rather a trend of Donating money on Marriages should be adapted !!!.....
More the rich , more the donation !
Competition!!(which is prevailing in today's system)

Donating money! I think this wont be a right solution. Because, most of the rich people, have their own NGO.

Middle class as well as rich will also donate or do something constructive for the nation........Why to waste so much on just one day event . Which everyone forgets 2 days later. Earlier , Spending lavishly was banned by Indian Government at the time of fund crunch(During Indira Gandhi's regime), But now it is required to ban for the country's development !

it depends on the standard of ur living..! If one can afford everything well and good..! But Ok,For instance let us consider that a poor guy has a rich guy as his close friend and tht rich guy Spends lavishly for his marriage..! The poor one must not get influenced and must think that one has to spend lavishly in his/her marriages..! i.e one must not do anything to seek only attention..! One must do something for his or her satisfaction however poor(i.e. however small he spends fr his marriage) he may be......! His/her satisfaction is primary factor..!

I do not think this is in any way possible because the one who's so rich and does not spend much in his/her marriage will spend it on other stupid things.....! and the one who's rich and conservative will definitely lose his money in some other purposes..! this can oly happen when all the black money's from Swiss banks and other banks are brought to our nation..!

just an idea, If the government follows a strict rules, saying that only register marriages are allowed, and no spending for marriage. We can also avoid child and illegal marriages.

But, government which tried to change the library to marriage hall. This happened in Chennai recently.

We all know that, Indian marriage custom is unique and holds a place in the world which is greatly appreciated.

According to me, a person has got all the right to spend his money on whatever he likes. Of course legally!!!! Marriage being the topic here, its nothing different. Coming to the point of using this money for good purpose and donating it poor, I think this has to be self initiated. If someone is doing it... Great!!!! We salute!!!! If not, we do not have the rights to blame them for their thoughts on usage of the money. Even the Govt has not got a right on their money after a certain extent (tax).

The only thing we can hope for is that, We do it, so that someone else will see us and do it for good!!!!! Anyways nice thought #-Link-Snipped-#

....This idea could be more practical - Imposing heavy taxes on the marriages .....this would not only benefit the government by collect the the taxes (which are used for development works ) but also help to limit the spending on the marriages.

Do you think, people wont find a new way, how to avoid those taxes. As engineering college are collecting donation in the name of the trust.

    #-Link-Snipped-#,@vinod1993,@Prashanth_p@cchi ,
You mean that we should continue wasting our money of about thousands of crores of Rupees(whole as a nation) just for the sake of one day event ! In order to establish supremacy over other's marriage !Even by taking loans , and repaying for whole life ! Rather than investing money (in real state, manufacturing ,etc) , which would bear fruits throughout the life !

#-Link-Snipped-#, I never specified to get loan and spend lavishly for marriages. If a person as money, let him spend other than investing it in real estate. I don't want the money to get damped within a person, Let it be circulating.

My point was that when there is a marriage ceremony there is at-least some expenditure which may fund businesses like flower venders .
