Hudway App On iPhone Makes a Screen Out Of Your Windshield To Give You Directions

A new app for iPhone called the Hudway has been launched on the iTunes Store that features technology of the future and brings it right in your car. Developed by RIT LLC, the Hudway App that works on iPhone, iPad as well as iPod, will run on your smartphone and project the appropriate driving directions on your windshield. The Hudway HUD (Head-up display) tool will remind you nothing less than a science fiction movie that you watched recently. With the app, the navigation to the place you are headed will appear right in front of your eyes, making it easier for a driver to get directions, especially when driving alone. Interestingly, Internet connection is not required to build the route with Hudway. Users can re-load all desired routes. If the route is already built or pre-loaded — you can use HUDWAY offline.

Hudway is getting really great reviews because it has attempted to work even through issues like wind, snow, rain, fog or badly lit areas - making it a must-have and a great tool for roadies because of the increased driver safety it brings. It does not require any projectors and not even a special film for your windshield. All dangerous turns display in red color and prior marks on the road helps to visually measure the distance to the turn. Distance between each marks is equal to 50 meters (~160 feet). The app works on all iOS powered devices and there are currently two in-app purchase options for Hudway in iTunes. Pro Mode is priced at $1.99, while Ad Free can be downloaded for $0.99. Otherwise a free one, the application is compatible with iOS 6.0 or later.

The owl, which is the symbol of Hudway app signifies that you get a similar ability like owls use to hunt at nights. Developed brilliantly to reflect simplicity and great usability, the Hudway app is being appreciated by users worldwide. Though there is some criticism about the working of the display in presence of direct light onto the windscreen in bright daytime or in heavy traffic, we have to wait and see how the app works for ourselves to believe its viability. Good question! 😀

So, how does the Hudway app work?
Well, you can use it like a normal smartphone navigation system by looking directly at the screen, but it's meant to be used as a projector, making route info available on your windshield.

To do that, user has to just tap the "HUD" button, and place your phone on the dashboard, near the windshield. Though the phone isn't technically a projector, Hudway's high-contrast, reversible interface means that it's easily reflected on glass.

    In a nutshell - it's a poor man's HUD.

Wow! This is really innovative. The fact that there is no requirement of additional hardware is the most impressive.
