Huawei's Mid-Range Honor 5X And Budget Holly 2 Plus Launched In India

Chinese telecom giant Huawei launched two new models under its Honor range of Smartphones - Honor 5X at Rs. 12,999 and Honor Holly 2 Plus at a budget price of Rs. 8,499. Honor 5X comes with a unique finger-print sensor; of the 360-degree variety which can detect a fingerprint at any angle. It's quick and accurate, and rarely requires a second touch. It is also capable of detecting a fingerprint when in standby mode. It has 4G dual-SIM connectivity (Nano-SIM and Micro-SIM) equipped with the new 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC.

The key feature consists of a metal body, in terms of grip and feel the edges are decent, with a 5.5-inch Full HD display; screen resolution of 1080x1920-pixel and a pixel density of 401ppi. Other mid-range specifications include 2GB of RAM, a relatively modest 16GB of internal storage (expandable by up to 128GB using a microSD card), a 3000mAh non-removable battery under the hood and Android 5.1.1.

On the photography front Honor 5X boasts of a 13-megapixel primary camera with single-tone LED flash and variable focus, and a 5-megapixel front camera with fixed focus. The rear camera can record video at up to 1080p resolution, while the front camera is capable of video recording at 720p. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Phone’s sensors include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor and an Accelerometer.

Two variants of the Honor 5X were launched in China in October last year – CNY 999- 2GB RAM (approx. Rs 10,000) and CNY 1,399- 3GB RAM (approx. Rs 14,000).

Holly 2 Plus sports a polycarbonate body, boasting to deliver up to 48 hours of continued usage with 4,000 mAh battery. I'ts Smart Power 3.0 mode gives 30 percent more battery life which can support 20 hours of usage with 10 per cent battery; switching the phone to ultra power saving mode.

It also features a reverse charging technology to charge another smartphone or tablet using a micro-B USB cable. Powered by 1.3 GHz QuadCore processor it comes with an inbuilt storage of 16 GB; further expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Bluetooth, A-GPS and USB connectivity. A 4000 mAh battery with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera with features such as Auto Flash, Continuous Shooting, Face detection, Geo tagging, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR) and Touch to focus complete the model.

Honor 5X begins its pre-orders from 3PM today and the device will be available on 1 February midnight via Amazon and Flipkart, while Holly 2 Plus will be available starting 15 February midnight.
