HP Unveils Jet Fusion 3D Printer Series With 10x Speed

The term additive manufacturing, briefed as 3D printing, has been around for about three decades now. But we still seem to struggle to substitute the traditional injection moulding process with 3D printing to manufacture the required materials which are just as strong as the former produces, and on a large scale. But this is no more the case. Hewlett Packard (HP) recently unveiled an astounding 3D printer, which is capable of doing just that. They name it 'HP Jet Fusion 3D Printer Series'

The printer, which HP quotes as 'World’s First Production-Ready 3D Printing System', is said to transform the whole process of 3D printing-from designing to prototyping to manufacturing. What completely stirs up the 3D printer market is that HP claims that 3D printing with this printer costs nearly half the amount and is up to 10 times as fast as compared to other printing systems out there! Meanwhile it also ensures to deliver better quality of the manufactured parts.

HP out powered other companies by its strength in R&D department. It came up with a new innovative technique to print rather than utilizing laser sintering. The company sought inspiration their ink jet printing technique. Jet Fusion uses a laser to heat the powdered polymer, which is specifically a thermoplastic polymer, and then join them to construct the model, layer by layer. The print head of the printer has a fusing and a detailing agent. This is what speeds up the whole process.

The company is also planning to create a 3D material app store, and is collaborating with companies such as BASF, Lehmann & Voss, to expand the proposed platform. It is also working with companies like Autodesk and Siemens to make the design to print procedure more simple. HP also claims that its Jet Fusion series is the only one to be completely compatible with 3MF 3D file format.

The pricing for HP Jet Fusion 3D Printer Series starts from $130,000 (Rs 87,85,855)The series comprises of two models-HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200, which will be delivered later this year, while HP Jet Fusion 3D 3200 will be available the next year. HP has already began to take orders for the printer systems.
