HP Stream Mini & HP Pavilion Mini: Windows 8.1 Mini PCs At Affordable Prices Launched At CES 2015

After launching HP Announces Stream 11 and Stream 13 Windows Notebook PCs; Prices Start At $199 Windows notebooks last year, HP is continuing the trend of cheap and cheerful products by announcing the launch of two mini PCs, the HP Stream Mini & HP Pavilion Mini at CES today. Prices of HP Pavilion Mini start at $319 (20,220 INR) and the HP Stream Mini will cost you $179 (11,345 INR) and onwards. Both of them will go on sale in the US on the company’s website on January 14th and will arrive in brick and mortar shops by February 8th. Both of the PCs look alike but underneath the hood they are quite different. Let’s discuss the HP Pavilion Mini first.

HP Pavilion Mini

HP Pavilion Mini

The HP Pavilion Mini is the more expensive model as it boasts some impressive specs keeping in mind its cost. It runs Windows 8.1 on an Intel Pentium 3558U processor that clocks in at 1.7GHz. You get 4GB of PC3-12800 DDR3L-1600 SDRAM and are given the option to expand it up to 16GB (two 8 GB RAMS). In terms of storage you get a 500GB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive. Connectivity options are a plenty with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI out, DisplayPort and four USB 3.0 ports. Unlike other manufacturers of mini PCs HP does not skip on the keyboard and mouse. It provides a Wireless chiclet-style keyboard with volume control, Windows 8 hot keys and optical mouse in the package. Other features include a 3-in-1 card reader, Intel HD Graphics, additional memory and expansion slots.

HP Stream Mini

HP Stream Mini

The HP Stream Mini has been aggressively priced and some corners have been cut. You get a Windows 8.1 with Bing operating system that runs on a 1.4GHz Intel Celeron 2957U processor and 2GB of RAM. The biggest demerit of the HP Stream 11 is its paltry 32GB SSD storage but you have the option of adding a normal hard drive at your expense. This one has all the connectivity features as that of HP Pavilion Mini but here you get a wired USB keyboard and mouse instead of a wireless one. HP Stream Mini will be available in a light blue colour variant.
