How to detect software installed in client m/c through network with Java Programming?

my project is network monitouring system in java

i want to add functionality like tracking IP,host name of host,name of os,version of os,installed software in that particulre client computer.

can any one suggest me how to start .????

if possible than suggest me api,online example....

    you can use rmi [ Remote Method Invocation ].
