Hike Messenger Voice Calling Feature Coming Soon - The Journey So Far.

Launched in December 2012 with an aim to build a homegrown instant messaging service so that all of India could get online, Hike Messenger has come a long way over the past two years. Having seen a phenomenal growth with number of users getting 10 times every week, the Hike app crossed the 5 million milestone in April 2014 when around the same time it raised the first round of funding of $7 million from Bharti SoftBank. It has been all uphill for Hike ever since. The Hike app received chat themes, updated stickers, hidden chats and a revamped UI. In August last year, Hike declared that its app's usage has hit the 35 million mark and soon received a funding of 65 million (a round led by Tiger Global). About a week back, the owners proudly announced their first acquisition of a US-based voice-calling company - Zip Phone. This is the company's first step in speeding up the process of introducing voice calling feature through Hike app to its millions of users.

Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO, Hike Messenger and Anuj Jain, Founder, Zip Phone are both excited about their rapid venture into the Indian Internet space. Through digital ad campaigns, launching TVC, hitting number 1 rank in app stores, introducing Indian local stickers as a feature, the Hike Messenger app has grown by leaps and bounds in a very short time. The folks behind the app have made use of 128-bit SSL encrypted, firewall server for exchanging text and media through WiFi. To ensure customer's the data is not backed-up to Hike's server
