High Security For Facebook Photos With McAfee Social Protection

Although Facebook has the feature to apply privacy settings to your photos in order to limit their viewing but it is still possible for users to share the photo which they can view. McAfee and Intel have joined hands to provide solution to this problem by developing McAfee Social Protection. This feature consists of a web browser plug-in and a Facebook app. The way it works to secure your photos is that once you upload the image it immediately distorts the photo that you post and your friends can view the clean photo, only if they have the browser plug-in and permission to view the image.

Further the app promises that even if the photos are visible to the friend that has obtained your permission to view, he or she cannot print or download or even take a screenshot of the photo. The service also has a facial recognition feature that can identify the photos of you posted on Facebook that you weren’t tagged in and alert you.

This service will be available as a public beta from late August and will work in Internet Explorer 8 or above and Mozilla Firefox 8 or above.
