Higgs Boson Consistent Particle Found - CERN CMS Experiment At LHC Successful!

CERN’s scientists today presented the latest results of their CMS experiment from the Large Hadron Collider about the much-sought after God Particle called 'Higgs Boson'. Today the science-town is abuzz with the news that finally the researchers have found a new boson within five standard deviations of accuracy. It is the heaviest boson ever found and it’s “consistent” with Higgs boson. Their data clearly shows signs of this new particle at the level of 5 sigma, in the mass region around 126 GeV.

These results are very preliminary. Even then, CERN says in its #-Link-Snipped-# that we have all reasons to get excited with this discovery. Last year, CERN thought that they will either find Higgs-like particle or exclude the existence of the Standard Model Higgs. Read our report on it #-Link-Snipped-#. And now, another experiment called ATLAS, that also aims at discovering this particle, will be announcing its results later today. When the data of the results from both experiments is combined, scientists will be able to confirm the existence of the particle with even more certainty. One might ask,  how big is this discovery? Well, it just means that our knowledge of the fundamental structure of matter is on the verge of taking a leap.
