GSM based Home Automation System

i want to make project on Home automation system with GSM .If we are used Reed sensor then A/D converter is required?

    i think no need to use A/D converter while interfacing Reed switch or sensor to microcontroller.below shows a simple reed switch interfacing.

    I'm curious to know what all functions and features would a GSM based home automation system can have? Also, I haven't heard of CDMA based home automation system - does that even make sense? ๐Ÿ˜

    Ideally, one would want to separate input(GSM, CDMA, bluetooth, wifi, sensors etc.) and output (controlling switch) for home automation. The modular design will allow you to mix-and-match various scenes. e.g. read SMS and perform operation, switch off lights after you have left home, switch on AC if the temp. goes above certain threshold etc. I've one working for my home .

    I'm curious though - why would you want to use A/D with reed switch :-?
