After making a mark for itself in the tablet world with the critically acclaimed Nexus 7 tablet, Google has announced a bigger offering in form of the Nexus 9. The Nexus 9 as rumoured in the past has been manufactured by smartphone manufacturer HTC. The Nexus 9 will be up for pre-order in the US from 17th of October and will be sold in 16 or 32 GB memory and Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + LTE connectivity variants. The cheapest of the lot with 16GB of internal memory and Wi-Fi costs $399. The 32GB Wi-Fi variant is priced at $479 and you have to shell out $599 for a 32GB Wi-Fi + LTE model. Before this Android Lollipop tablet arrives in stores on November 9th, let’s take a brief look at HTC’s first tablet offering.

Nexus 9 1

On first look you can’t help but notice that Google has tried to emulate the iPad Mini with the Nexus 9. As evident from the name, the Google Nexus 9 has Gorilla Glass 3 protected 8.9inch IPS LCD display with an interesting 4:3 aspect ratio and QXGA (2048x1536) resolution. The 4:3 aspect ratio is interesting because most Android devices have a 16:9 aspect ratio display. On the inside, we find a hugely powerful 64-bit dual-core 2.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with Kepler GPU and 2GB of RAM that can handle almost anything you throw at it. Whether it is a graphics hungry gaming or ridiculous multitasking it can handle it.

Nexus 9 2

On the photography front, Google has stuck with a low resolution 1.6MP sensor on the front and a LED flash equipped auto-focus 8MP sensor on the back. HTC has brought its BoomSound technology on to the Nexus 9 with dual front facing speakers. We find Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2x2 (MIMO), NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and microUSB connectivity options on the Nexus 9. The Nexus 9 contains GPS, ambient light, gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer sensors. The best thing about the Nexus 9 is its 6700mAh battery that can give you 9.5 hours of internet browsing and video playback. The Nexus 9 measures 153.68mm x 228.25mm x 7.95mm and weighs 425g (Wi-Fi) and 436g (LTE). You can get a Nexus 9 in Indigo Black, Lunar White and Sand colour variants. Google has also quietly released a magnetically attached, fully-responsive keyboard for the tablet which is sold separately.

Actually it is !!
If it has the comparable touch (iPad is still the best when it comes to touch experience), we can easily announce it as best available tablet in market.

It has Tegra K1, that alone makes it one world better than any tablet available in the market. Oh wait! Let's compare it with Nvidia Shield 😁

Price of Nexus 9 in India
Google has put up India pricing information of the Nexus 9 on the Google Play devices section.
16 GB (Wi-Fi Only) – Rs. 28,900
32 GB (LTE) – Rs. 44,990
Even though we have three other colours are available, currently the Indigo Black is up on the website. We advise you to wait until the retail and online shopping availability because by then the prices could be down by a couple of grand.
