Perhaps it is a small blue rectangle suggesting you to try the new look, also accompanied with written suggestion box from the users. Now the color of that rectangle may change according to the theme that you have selected, most importantly many people are doubtful of switching over to the newer version, thinking about the convenient features of old look.

The changes that #-Link-Snipped-# has incorporated are not totally unexpected and there was always some amount of guesswork going on as the company was changing for keeping up with the businesses like Facebook and Twitter even in looks. The Internet giant had released a video in this regard this October.
