GE's 27 Watt, A-19 Shaped LED Bulb To Replace 100 Watt Incandescents Globally

We always knew that LEDs lower our electric bills and even made a switch to LEDs years ago. The major problem with current generation of LED bulbs is that they are nowhere near to the regular incandescents when it comes to illumination. But that's no longer true. LED bulbs are all set to replace your standard, jurassic incandescents. We recently informed you about the #-Link-Snipped-#. Now brace yourself for the launch of #-Link-Snipped-#'s 27 Watt bulb on May 9th at the LIGHTFAIR International in Las Vegas, the world’s largest lighting trade show. What's so cool about this LED? Well, it's of the standard 'A-19' size (engineers kept the size intact while making illumination greater). The bulb incorporates GE's proprietary synthetic jet technology that it developed in association with Nuventix, the company expert in managing the thermal problem in electronics. Nuventix had won the GE #-Link-Snipped-# challenge.

The bulb is expected to his US and Canadian markets in early 2013 and the retail price is yet to be decided. GE promises that the bulb will last for 22.8 years if you plan to use it for about 3 hours per day. Those who are interested in the technical details may be pleased to know that this "GE Energy Smart® 27-watt LED bulb" is capable of 1,600+ lumens, uniform omnidirectional light distribution & 3000K color temperature.
