Freestyle: Coca Cola’s Knockout Punch!

Coca cola has “opened newer avenues for happiness” in the form of Freestyle, its latest soda fountain dispenser. The signature moves of freestyle include:

    [*]Touch screen LCD panel
    [*]Vends 106 drinks
[*]Equipped with Wi-fi modem, connected in real time to the Coke’s Atlanta headquarters through internet.
[*]Body designed by Pininfarina, Italian car design firm (also caters to Ferrari).

The curvilinear body of Freestyle consists of three fully loaded features:

1.   Nozzle: keeps your drink’s flavor totally unadulterated from that of previous one.

Suppose your friend had a cuppa of Green tea. Now you want to have one of Fanta. Imagine what if your Fanta has some droplets of the previous Green tea left in the nozzle. Coco Cola has removed this drawback by designing a nozzle which ensures that each drink keeps its flavor to itself. This unique nozzle is designed by Dean Kamen, creator of the Segaway personal scooter and first wearable insulin pump for diabetics. He designed the Perfect Pour System for Coca Cola. The unique thing about Freestyle is it mixes its beverages from tiny flavor concentrates. These are delivered using micro dosing technology developed for chemotherapy drugs. This technology includes shooting the flavors into an airborne water stream.

2.   Download-able Pour: LCD touch screen panel[IMG]

The menu on Freestyle’s LCD panel is powered by Windows CE computer. It lets you choose from amongst six parent brands: Sprite, Coke, Fanta, Minute Maid, PowerAde and Dasani. On selecting any of these, the screen will display the various sub flavors. It also shows the drink you have finally selected. Now you just have to press POUR and enjoy.

3.   Wi-Fi system: Keeping in touch with the big daddy.

Freestyle keeps a watch on its supplies using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. All the information is conveyed to Coca Cola’s Atlanta Headquarters. Information consists of the current stock of the micro flavor cartridges. This includes which cartridge is running low and which are not being used. It also transmits the marketing data, e.g. which flavor is in demand and at what time. The data is conveyed to the headquarters every time it mixes a drink. Very loyal boy indeed!
