Ford Fusion Integrated with 'Lane Keeping System' To Be Displayed At Detroit Auto Show

When we covered the news about #-Link-Snipped-# in late October, not much information was available as to where the American auto giant plans to use this latest safety measure. The details about the working of this new technology were made available to the public; however, the company has now revealed that the technology will be seen in Ford Fusion which will be showcased in January at North American International Auto Show | North American International Auto Show.

The system is designed to avoid the cases reported by NHTSA | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration every year leading to loss of life and property. The traffic agency estimates that about 1500 deaths and monetary loss of over $12.5 billion occur annually. The LKS technology, also popularly called as Coffee Brake System, reduces the probability of accidents on account of distraction of drivers.

Much of the work of Lane Keeping System (LKS) rests on the electric power steering, which provides vibration signals to the system controls. The technology designed by the company has capability of processing digital images, which a camera mounted in front of the car clicks, as you drive. Specially designed software calculates the risks involved in driving and gives appropriate signal to the driver.

Ford Fusion, one of the popular models that the American car company is banking on, is expected to be a star attraction of North American auto show. The auto expo will be held from January 9-22 in Detroit. The event which is entering its 23rd year will be remarkable one, as many automakers are expected to showcase their innovations in January. It will also be interesting to see what Toyota has in store for car lovers after it showcased its wagon last year. There are also reports that Nissan will display its Pathfinder SUV in Detroit this Jan.
