Flipkart ebooks store goes live with an Android app & 4000 free ebooks

Flipkart - India's online megastore has gone live with the eBooks store. The ebook store becomes a part of the Flipkart #-Link-Snipped-# digital ecosystem and offers over 100,000 titles at attractive prices. The company has also launched an Android App (free) which is mandatory if you want to download and read your purchased ebook. If you want to try how it works, we'd recommend downloading one of the 4000 ebooks available in the store completely free of cost.

The company says that they're targeting the tech-savvy book lovers with this new initiative. People will be able to quickly buy the ebook and have it accessible through several mobile devices. The digital library allows download on maximum of 6 devices, which we believe is reasonable. The pricing starts at Rs. 30 and we found most of the books in the Rs. 100 range.

We had #-Link-Snipped-# Flipkart to enter into the digital books market after their top rival Amazon (Junglee) had launched the Kindle ebook store. It'd be interesting to see how the price war between these two online behemoths benefit the consumers. We'd also keep an eye on how the rivals keep up with the competition.

If you need assistance downloading and reading eBooks from Flipkart's Digital Library, we've cooked up a #-Link-Snipped-# for you on CrazyEngineers Forums.
