In US, the Ocean Renewables Power Company (ORPC) has worked with The Department of Energy to launch the first commercial grid-tied tidal power project in the country. Named as the TidGen Cobscook Bay project, it will run on the tides as huge as 50 feet over the water flowing at depths of 50 to 100 feet in the Bay of Fundy between Maine and Canada. With a generation of 3 megawatts of power, the project is bringing electricity to over 1,200 homes in Maine.

Initiated 6 years ago, this project has deployed power systems in Cobscook Bay, at Kendall Head, and in Western Passage that will be connected to the New England power pool through the Bangor Hydro utility grid. With renewable energy projects becoming more and more commonplace, together we are working towards a green and sustainable future. Who doesn't love this?
