Firefox 5 Beta Available For Download. What's New?

Mozilla has learned from Chrome and has adopted the rapid-release idea for the next version of Firefox 5. This way, Mozilla will be able to bring newer features to end-users and developers sooner. Firefox 5 brings lot of performance enhancement on the table and loads of new features. The most striking amongst them is the support to HTML 5 feature - CSS animations.

CSS animations will allow developers to spice up their animations like pop-up message or photo gallery browsing. Also included are canvas, JavaScript, memory, and networking performance and improved support to standards like XHR, MathML, SMIL. Firefox 5 beta also lets you switch between the development channels. Good news for Linux users as FF5 features improved desktop environment integration. Not to mention, the tons of bugs reported by user community have been fixed in the beta version.

One might expect bigger change set as the version number changes. But remember that Mozilla has adopted Google Chrome style faster release cycle. This obviously means, features will arrive faster with every release, but new version number won't mean exciting new features. Mozilla has three main versions: The Release Version is for the end users, The Aurora Version for - the more raw version for those who can't wait for the builds to achieve a bit of stability and The Beta Version for the features which are currently under testing.
