eSeva Technology: From Andhra Pradesh To The World

Andhra Pradesh’s e-Seva is already very popular as the internet literacy rate of the state is quite high. E-Seva believes in looking at 'service' from the citizens' point of view. Using state of the art technologies the Government of Andhra Pradesh seeks to redefine citizen services through e-Seva. With around 51e-Seva centers having over 400 service counters which are spread over the twin cities and Ranga Reddy district the e-Seva aim to serve the public in an efficient manner. e-Seva offers a wide spectrum of citizen-friendly services which help them to do a wide variety of  work from home. From payment of utility bills to registration of births and deaths, from reservation of tickets to B2C services it helps you in doing many such chores.

[IMG]The service counters are all facilitated with electronic queuing system and any citizen belonging to the twin cities can avail these facilities through any of the centers of e-Seva. Well, this might seem to be news to a lot of you. But what I want to share is that countries like Mauritius, Poland and Israel want to begin the same e-Seva in their states with the help of Andhra Pradesh. The official agreement between Andhra Pradesh government and the governments of Mauritius, Poland and Israel will soon be signed for transfer of technology related to e-governance.

IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah stated the fact that Andhra Pradesh had been a pioneer in launching various e-governance initiatives. e-Seva, the most popular among the lot is known for offering an array of government-to-citizen services.  Ponnala Lakshmaiah said, "Officials from Israel have already visited the state to study our e-governance programmes and have decided to adopt them in their country. Similarly, Mauritius and Poland too have evinced interest in the e-governance initiatives." He also added that Sri Lanka too was in touch with the state government for launching e-Seva and other citizen services in the island nation.

A two day international event “Advantage AP-IT Summit-2011” will be organized by the Information Technology and Communications Department of Andhra Pradesh government from March 1, 2011 to showcase the state’s advancement and capabilities in the IT and IT enabled service sectors as also to invite more investments to the same. Ponnala also pointed out that the aim of the event was to make Andhra Pradesh the most preferred IT destination in the country.

This summit will definitely draw major attention towards the IT sector in the state and with other countries entering into agreements to transfer technology from our country, India sure is on the path to development.

Go India, go!
