    dileep please check the questions..! I think some 5 to 6 questions are already in my aptitude questions thread..
    Justification for the questions is available there..

    1) b

    Look at the series its
    8 2 14 6 11 ? 14 6 18 12
    Now add the 1st number and the last number .. it is 20.
    not add the 2nd number which is 2 and the last but one number which is 18 ... it is 20..
    So if you keep adding these all the sum equals to 20. So the number next to 11 should be 9.

    2) e

    3) d

    Given 2x-y=4,
    now multiply with 3 on both sides, then we get
    3(2x-y)=3(4)
    6x-3y =12

    4) b

    5) b

    6) a

    Assume container to be of 120 ltrs.
    A's filling rate = 6 lt/min
    B's filling rate = 4 lt/min
    C's filling rate = - 3 lt/min
    When all 3 work together, Net filling rate = 6+4-3 = 7 lt/min
    Time to fill 120 ltr vessel = 120/7 = 17 1/7 mins

    7) a

    8) a

    9) b

    10) a

    Q1. John

    Since one of each person's statements are true, the thief was either John or Bo, since Kate accused both of them. If Roman was lying when he said it wasn't Bo, he must have been telling the truth when he said it was Kate. Since it can't be Bo and Kate, it can only be John.

    Q2. Door3

    If door 1 is telling the truth, then the money is behind door 2. That means door 2 is lying, and if door 2 is lying, then the money is behind door 3. The money is only behind one door, so door 1 is lying.
    If door 1 is lying, then door 3 has to be telling the truth. Since only one door is telling the truth, door 2 is lying, which means the money is behind door 3.

    1.The gentlemen Dutch, English, Painter, and Writer are all teachers at the same secondary school. Each teacher teaches two different subjects. Furthermore:

    * Three teachers teach Dutch language
    * There is only one math teacher
    * There are two teachers for chemistry
    * Two teachers, Simon and mister English, teach history
    * Peter doesn't teach Dutch language
    * Steven is chemistry teacher
    * Mister Dutch doesn't teach any course that is tought by Karl or mister Painter.

    The Question: What is the full name of each teacher and which two subjects does each one teach?

    2. Out of these four statements, which statement is true if only one statement is true?

    Statement A: Statement D is false
    Statement B: Statement C is true
    Statement C: Statement A is true
    Statement D: Statement B is false

    3. Richard is a strange liar. He lies on six days of the week, but on the seventh day he always tells the truth. He made the following statements on three successive days:

    Day 1: "I lie on Monday and Tuesday."
    Day 2: "Today, it's Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday."
    Day 3: "I lie on Wednesday and Friday."

    The Question: On which day does Richard tell the truth?

    4. The Wolf, the Goat, and the Cabbage
    A man has a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage. He must cross a river with the two animals and the cabbage. There is a small rowing-boat, in which he can take only one thing with him at a time. If, however, the wolf and the goat are left alone, the wolf will eat the goat. If the goat and the cabbage are left alone, the goat will eat the cabbage.

    The Question: How can the man get across the river with the two animals and the cabbage?

    5.Father, sister, cousin, mother, grandfather, aunt and uncle. Which one does not belong?

    6.With the ciphers 1, 4, 5 and 6 you must make 24, using the following rules:

    * Each cipher must be used exactly once.
    * The allowed operations are: addition, substraction, multiplication and division.
    * Ciphers may not be concatenated (so, for example, it is not allowed to use 1 and 4 as 14).
    * Brackets are allowed.

    The Question: Give the two solutions to this problem.

    7.The King's Gold
    Long ago, there was a king who had six sons. The king possessed a huge amount of gold, which he hid carefully in a building consisting of a number of rooms. In each room there were a number of chests; this number of chests was equal to the number of rooms in the building. Each chest contained a number of golden coins that equaled the number of chests per room. When the king died, one chest was given to the royal barber. The remainder of the coins had to be divided fairly between his six sons.

    The Question: Is a fair division possible in all situations?

    8.Long Division
    We have the following long division:

    . . 9 / 6 . 8 . . . \ . 5 3
    . . . 2
    -------
    . 9 . .
    . . 4 .
    -------
    . . 4 .
    . . . .
    -------
    0

    The Question: What does the complete long division look like?

    Another Question: In the multiplication shown below, five ciphers (and the obvious three zeros) are given:

    6 . .
    . . . ร—
    --------
    . . .
    . . . . 0
    . 5 . 5 0 0 +
    -------------
    . . 5 . 4 .

    What does the complete multiplication look like?

    Yet Another Question: We have the following long division:

    . . . / . . . . . . . . \ . . 8 . .
    . . .
    -------
    . . . .
    . . .
    -------
    . . . .
    . . . .
    -------
    0

    What does the complete long division look like?

    9.Faites Vos Jeux
    A well-known roulette trick, to surely make a profit, is the following: you stake continuously at one color, for example red, double the bet if you lose, and stop as soon as you win. Because you get twice your bet back if you win, and the ball will once fall on red, you know that you will gain your original bet as profit (you must, however, have an infinite amount of money to be able to double your bet everytime when necessary). The expected value for your profit is therefore equal to your original bet.

    But assume that there is a maximum stake for the roulette, which means that you can only stake n consecutive times with this trick.

    The Question: What is the expected value for your profit for this limited roulette?

    10.Yesterday I met an old friend that I hadn't seen for many years. He told me that he had 3 children, and when I asked how old they were, he said that the sum of their ages is 13, and if you multiply their ages, the result is the same as your own age. I knew my own age, of course, but I still could not tell how old his children were, so he had to give me another hint. He then told me that the oldest one was visiting his grandparents right now. How old was this child?

    QUIZ 2 Answers

    Q.1 Since Peter as only one doesn't teach Dutch language, and mister Dutch doesn't teach any course that is tought by Karl or mister Painter, it follows that Peter and mister Dutch are the same person and that he is at least math teacher. Simon and mister English both teach history, and are also among the three Dutch teachers. Peter Dutch therefore has to teach next to math, also chemistry. Because Steven is also chemistry teacher, he cannot be mister English or mister Painter, so he must be mister Writer. Since Karl and mister Painter are two different persons, just like Simon and mister English, the names of the other two teachers are Karl English and Simon Painter.

    Summarized:
    Peter Dutch, math and chemistry
    Steven Writer, Dutch and chemistry
    Simon Painter, Dutch and history
    Karl English, Dutch and history.

    Q3.We know that Richard tells the truth on only a single day of the week. If the statement on day 1 is untrue, this means that he tells the truth on Monday or Tuesday. If the statement on day 3 is untrue, this means that he tells the truth on Wednesday or Friday. Since Richard tells the truth on only one day, these statements cannot both be untrue. So, exactly one of these statements must be true, and the statement on day 2 must be untrue.

    Assume that the statement on day 1 is true. Then the statement on day 3 must be untrue, from which follows that Richard tells the truth on Wednesday or Friday. So, day 1 is a Wednesday or a Friday. Therefore, day 2 is a Thursday or a Saturday. However, this would imply that the statement on day 2 is true, which is impossible. From this we can conclude that the statement on day 1 must be untrue.

    This means that Richard told the truth on day 3 and that this day is a Monday or a Tuesday. So day 2 is a Sunday or a Monday. Because the statement on day 2 must be untrue, we can conclude that day 2 is a Monday.

    So day 3 is a Tuesday. Therefore, the day on which Richard tells the truth is Tuesday.

    Q4.There are two solutions:

    First, the man takes the goat across, leaving the wolf with the cabbage. Then he goes back. Next, he takes the wolf across. Then the man goes back, taking the goat with him. After this, he takes the cabbage across. Then he goes back again, leaving the wolf with the cabbage. Finally, he takes the goat across.

    First, the man takes the goat across, leaving the wolf with the cabbage. Then he goes back. Next, he takes the cabbage across. Then the man goes back, taking the goat with him. After this, he takes the wolf across. Then he goes back again, leaving the wolf with the cabbage. Finally, he takes the goat across.

    Q5. Cousin

    Q6.There are many solutions to this problem. Below, a few are listed:
    1 + 2 + 4/6 + 5 + 7/3 + 89 = 100
    12 + 6/3 + 75 + 8/4 + 9 = 100
    1/6 + 2 + 4/8 + 7/3 + 95 = 100
    24 + 57 + 6/3 + 8 + 9/1 = 100
    36 + 4/8 + 51 + 7/2 + 9 = 100
    3/2 + 5 + 6/8 + 7/4 + 91 = 100

    Q7.A fair division of the coins is indeed possible. Let the number of rooms be N. This means that per room there are N chests with N coins each. In total there are Nร—Nร—N = N3 coins. One chest with N coins goes to the barber. For the six brothers, N3 - N coins remain. We can write this as: N(N2 - l), or N(N - 1)(N + l). This last expression is divisible by 6 in all cases, since a number is divisible by 6 when it is both divisible by 3 and even. This is indeed the case here: whatever N may be, the expression N(N - 1)(N + l) always contains three successive numbers. One of those is always divisible by 3, and at least one of the others is even. This even holds when N=1; in that case all the brothers get nothing, which is also a fair division!

    Q10.These are the possible combinations of their ages (and the product of these): 1 1 11 (11), 1 2 10 (20), 1 3 9 (27), 1 4 8 (32), 1 5 7 (35), 1 6 6 (36), 2 2 9 (36), 2 3 8 (48), 2 4 7 (56), 2 5 6 (60), 3 3 7 (63), 3 4 6 (72), 3 5 5 (75) and 4 4 5 (80). Since I couldn't tell their age based on this, they must be either 1 6 6 or 2 2 9 (and my own age must be 36). When I got the information that one of the children is older than the others, this child must be 9.

    a b 9 / 6 c 8 d e f \ g 5 3
    h i j 2
    -------
    k 9 l m
    n p 4 q
    -------
    r s 4 t
    u v w x
    -------
    0

    Because the long division ends without remainder, we know that:

    * uvwx=rs4t
    * t=f
    * m=e

    We conclude:

    a b 9 / 6 c 8 d e f \ g 5 3
    h i j 2
    -------
    k 9 l e
    n p 4 q
    -------
    r s 4 f
    r s 4 f
    -------
    0

    In addition, the following holds:

    * ab9 ร— 3 (of g53) always ends on 7, so f = 7
    * ab9 ร— 3 = rs47, so 3 ร— b + 2 (of 3 ร— 9 = 27) = 4, so b = 4
    * np4q = 5 ร— a49 and always ends on 5, so q = 5

    This results in:

    * e = 9
    * g ร— a49 = hij2, so g = 8
    * 608097 (smallest possible numerator) divided by 853 gives 712, so a >= 7. The largest possible numerator (698997) divided by 853 gives 819. So, the only possibility for a is 7.

    Now, the other ciphers can automatically be derived, since both numerator and denominator are known. The complete long division looks like:

    7 4 9 / 6 3 8 8 9 7 \ 8 5 3
    5 9 9 2
    -------
    3 9 6 9
    3 7 4 5
    -------
    2 2 4 7
    2 2 4 7
    -------
    0

    ANS2:: 6 4 5
    7 2 1 ร—
    --------
    6 4 5
    1 2 9 0 0
    4 5 1 5 0 0 +
    -------------
    4 6 5 0 4 5

    ANS3::We will indicate the numbers in the long division in the manner shown below:

    . . . / . . . . . . . . \ . . 8 . . A / B \ C
    . . . D
    ------- ---
    . . . . E
    . . . F
    ------- ---
    . . . . G
    . . . . H
    ------- ---
    0 0

    For E and G two ciphers have been brought down, therefore both the second and the fourth ciphers of C are 0.

    Because F consists of three ciphers and equals the outcome of 8 times A, A must be smaller than 1000/8=125. Number H consists of four ciphers and is the product of number A and the last cipher of C. Therefore, H is at least 1000, and because A is smaller than 125, the last cipher of C must be 9. Moreover, A must be at least 1000/9, so be larger than 111.

    Because the number D is subtracted from a number of four ciphers and the outcome of the subtraction consists of two ciphers, the first cipher of D must be 9. This is possible only if the first cipher of C is 8.

    Now we know that the number C equals 80809 and number B is at least 10000000. From this it follows that A is at least 124. Because we also know that A lies between 111 and 125, A equals 124.

    The complete long division can now be filled in:

    1 2 4 / 1 0 0 2 0 3 1 6 \ 8 0 8 0 9
    9 9 2
    -------
    1 0 0 3
    9 9 2
    -------
    1 1 1 6
    1 1 1 6
    -------

    1.Mordred . The first line is obvious: weโ€™re talking about a legendary character here. In most versions of the story, Morgause deceived Arthur about the fact that she was his sister. Traditionally, Mordred had four older brothers: Gawain, Agravaine, Gaheris, and Gareth. Gawain was known for his physical prowess and undying sense of honor. Agravaine, in many versions, killed a unicorn, which was considered to be an ill-omen. Both Gaheris and Gareth were killed by Lancelot in the knightโ€™s ill attempt at rescuing Guinevere. All the brothers were knights. And though Mordred was King Arthurโ€™s son, his father did not treat him as one.

    2.Beowulf was a warrior-king, and slew three monsters: Grendel, Grendelโ€™s mommy (who was even nastier than her beastly offspring), and a dragon. He was also a member of the Geat tribe, the son of Ecgtheous (and no, I canโ€™t pronounce it either). Grendel was called both โ€˜God-cursed bruteโ€™ and โ€˜Prowler through the darkโ€™ in various places of the poem. At one point in the story, Beowulf proclaims that โ€˜My flesh is not for feasting onโ€™.

    3.Robin Hood & Robin of Locksley & Robin Locksley.
    He robbed the rich and gave the money to the poor. He had a bounty on his head and could be killed on sight, thus, was a wolfhead. A robin, of course, is a red bird, and it is believed that in actuality, Robin Hood was a highway-robber. In many versions of the legend he was a lordโ€™s son.

    4.Odysseus.
    The Trojan War lasted ten long years, and the voyage home lasted another ten. The whole time, Odysseus wished to get home and see his wife and son, who had been an infant when he left. Known for his tactical expertise, Odysseus was always able to overcome his enemies, whether through physical might or, more often, through his intellectual prowess. At one point, he and his men are captured by a Cyclops who happened to be the son of Poseidon, god of the sea. They were able to escape, but angered Poseidon in the process, who then used every method he could think of to prevent the Greeks from returning home.
