Deus Ex Human Revolution Vision To Soon Be A Reality

#-Link-Snipped-#, Industrial Monocular Display, and Thermal and Tactical Monocular Display are one step closer to making the Deus Ex Dream a working reality. Going by the technology showcase at CES, the futuristic lenses seem to delivering their promise. The Thermal and Tactical Monocular Display, funded by DARPA is still under progress.

The Deus Ex like vision employs a compact HD display engine which can project images with high contrast. This makes the image visible under strong bright light as well. The images are relayed to a 1.4 mm polymer waveguide optical lens which can be worn over either eye. The lens' surface also features input and output hologram structures.

The demo specs feature a resolution of 1280X720 (color), a 30 to 50 degree field of view, HDMI or VGA video interface and 500+ nits luminance. The lens is designed to be as durable as any plastic prescription lenses would be. The primary purpose of  Monocular Display vision was to provide for an interactive relationship between soldiers in the field. Soldiers can access strategic data and be alerted of  an incoming aircraft before it is in the visible range.

Though originally cut out for soldiers the technology has a huge scope in consumer and business usage as well. Like soldiers can access strategic data useful in the field, similar application would be useful for accessing technical data for display in the wearer's field of vision. A remote operator can use the technology to draw on their interface, and the image can then appear in the wearer's field of vision, though the consumer model would be cheap and hence wouldn't have those features. Sources say that the consumer model is more likely to be a smartphone integration.
