CyanogenMod 9 Releases Its New Boot Animation

CyanogenMod 9 is the Android 4.0 version of CyanogenMod offering a customization interface to its users. CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. With the introduction of CyanogenMod 9, the CyanogenMod team is planning more emphasis on the User Experience (UX).

As with CyanogenMod 7, CM9 will also have a boot animation and to that the CM9 has posted a boot animation video on Youtube. The youtube video gives the user an idea of how the visual style of the latest version of CyanogenMod will look while booting. The boot animation for CM9 keeps the tradition of Android on a skateboard intact and is virtually a sequel to the CM7 boot animation, where the arrow spins recursively around the blue bugdroid on his skateboard.  The icon originated way back with the recovery screen of Android 1.5, where the bugdroid was riding his skateboard.

The animation file isn't available yet and the video can only be watched through Youtube but should be available soon enough or with the official CM9 package. CyanogenMod is a complete re-imaging of Ice Cream Sandwich but with respect to users who like to tweak around, allowing them the full freedom to do so.

Some say that the boot animation may be resource heavy and hence be a battery drainer. Some also speculate that the boot animation may have negative affects on certain devices but it is less likely considering CyanogenMod team will be testing the animation thoroughly before making it available. An insider source says that the animation will be available for both phones as well as tablet versions.
