Contact sensors

I am having a hard time looking for a feasible sensor for a contact event. Could someone give a suggestion? the sensor will activate if some object created contact with it. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

For small objects you can use a microswitch. It is simply a small switch which may have NO or NC contacts there are many contact geometries. For non-contact switching you will need a sensor.
