Chinese Hackers Penetrated US Chamber Of Commerce

A hacking group based in China penetrated into the U.S chamber of commerce, stole administrator level passwords and gained access to more than three million members of the organisation, according to a #-Link-Snipped-#.

This hacking attack said to be started at least on November 2009, and remained unnoticed until the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) discovered the stealing of information from chambers into Chinese servers, later alarmed the chambers in May 2010. Then in May, the chamber quietly shutdown and destroyed the infected computers.

Because of the complexity involved in the attack, the U.S chamber of commerce can't stop the hackers from accessing the information's on their computers completely. The hackers also used specified tools to search through a range of documents on the chamber's network for some particular keywords, to access financial and budget informations. The authorities were unsure about how much data the hackers stolen from the chamber's network and how they could affect their members.

#-Link-Snipped-#, hackers access were highly focused on six chamber employees who worked on Asia policy and stolen their emails over a period of six weeks. The intruders also created around half a dozen so-called back doors to sniffle into the chamber's network, whenever they want. The chamber's network still remains unsecured, but chamber installed the sophisticated equipments to detect the breach and also barred its employees from taking their portable devices to some specific countries like China.

These actions were believed to-be taken after finding out a thermostat at a Chamber-owned town house was communicating with an internet address in China, and an executives using printer started printing pages with Chinese characters in them. Also, according to WSJ, it is suspected that Chinese government is having ties with those hackers.

No new answers from the Chinese officials, as usual they defended that they were not supporting any hacking groups and Chinese government is against the cyber attacks. Also, they didn't forget to remember the line, "China itself is a victim of cyber attacks".
