Catalyst is the annual technical fest of Department of Computer Technology, Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Research. There are total 6 events across multiple technical backgrounds. The events are scheduled for 27th, 28th February and 1st March 2015. All the participants of Catalyst will be awarded with participation certificate. Refreshments will also be provided to the participants.

Details about the events:


WebDig:

Here will be a total of 30 questions to be solved within 2 hours. Participants are expected to use Google to find the answers to the questions and solve as many questions as possible. Answering each question will award 10 points to the participant. The participant with the most number of points will be announced winner. In case of a tie, the participant who correctly answered all the questions fastest, will be the winner.

There is no entry fee for the event for online participants. Participants can also participate onsite. All the participants will be awarded an online certificate.


The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 5000/- and a certificate. The event is scheduled on

1st March 2015.

Rules:


1. Multiple registrations from a single participant are not allowed. This will result in disqualification.

2. Registration on this site for the event will close at 11 PM on 26th February 2014.

3. All the participants will get online certificate only.



HackJack


HackJack is the first ever hacking competition happening out of a RTM Nagpur University college. This is a unique event where participants are expected to show off their hacking skills to complete the three levels of varying level of difficulty.

This competition will judge the participants’ knowledge of vulnerability and penetration testing of web applications. It will also have questions testing participants knowledge of windows and linux-based exploiting techniques.

The contest duration is 2 hours.
Entry fee for single participant is Rs. 80/-.


Prizes:
1st Prize – Rs. 2000/-
2nd Prize – Rs. 1000/-


This event is scheduled on 28th February 2015.


Event Format:

This event will have 3 rounds along with one surprise round (1337 round!).


Round 1: This is a logical round which will last for 30 minutes. Top 20 participants from this round will advance to the next round.

Round 2: This is a scripting round ( XSS, LFI, RFI ). This round will also last for 30 minutes. Top 10 participants from this round will advance to the next round.

Round 3: This is SQL Injection round. Duration of this round is 30 minutes. Top 5 participants from this round will advance to the final and surprise round.

Final Round: Surprise round. This round will have advanced challenges. Top 2 winners will be selected from this round.


Appropriate hints will be provided to all the participants in all the rounds.


Note:

1. Each round will have 5 questions to be answered in 30 minutes

2. Participants who solve the question first will be given bonus points.

3. Innovative techniques will also result in bonus points.


Rules:

1. Participants should report 30 minutes prior to event schedule.

2. Use of automated tools will result in disqualification.

3. Popular hacking tools will be provided to all the participants.

4. Use of internet is restricted. Participants who try to access internet in any way will be disqualified.

5. Participants should carry their receipts.

6. Spot registration will be subject to availability of computers in the labs.

Projectron:

Project Competition

Projectron is a project competition for student projects. Participants can participate with any kind of project (software/hardware) of their own choice.

This is a team event. Each team can have 3 to 5 participants. Entry fee is Rs. 50/- per team-mate.

1st – Rs. 2000/-
2nd – Rs. 1000/-
3rd – Prizes worth Rs. 500/-

All the participants will be awarded participation certificates. This event is scheduled on 28th February 2015.

Event Format:

There will be a single round for this event.

Judging Criteria:

  • Real-life application
  • Innovation
  • Efficiency
  • Concept
  • Presentation
Each criterion will be judged out of 10 points. The project with maximum points will be declared winner.

Event Rules:

· Each project will be allotted a time of maximum 10 minutes for presentation.

· All participants should report 30 minutes prior to event schedule.

· Software project participants should bring along their own laptops for presentation.

· 30 minutes will be allotted for setup of the project (both hardware and software).

· Participants should bring along their original receipts.

· Spot registration will be subject to availability of spots.

Quizache



This is a classic technical quiz event with multiple rounds. First two rounds will be online and the qualifying teams from these rounds will be eligible for the final, rapid-fire round.
Questions in the first two rounds will be a mix of technical and general knowledge. The buzzer round will have purely technical questions.
This is a team event. Each team can have upto two members. Entry fee is Rs. 50 per team.

Prizes:
1st Prize – Rs. 2000/-
2nd Prize – Rs. 1000/-
Certificates will be awarded to the winners as well as the participants. This event is scheduled on 27th February 2015.

Event Format:
Eligibility: Each team can have up to two members. Students from different colleges can form a team. All the participants must be students.

Round 1: This round will have 20 multiple-choice general knowledge and current affairs questions. This round will last 30 minutes. There will be 3 surprise questions.

Round 2: This round will have 20 multiple-choice technical questions. This round will last for 20 minutes. This round will have negative marking. Top 5 teams from this round will advance to the next and final buzzer round.

Round 3: This is a rapid-fire round. This round will have 10 questions. The team who first answers the maximum number of questions will be declared winner.

Rules:
· All teams should report 30 minutes prior to event schedule.

· Participants should bring their receipts along with them.

· Spot registration will be subject to availability of computer in labs.

· Use of internet in any way during the quiz duration will result in disqualification.

1. This is an individual event. Entry fee for each player is Rs. 50/-
2. The winning player will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000/-

FIFA:

1. This is an individual event. Entry fee for each player is Rs. 50/-
2. The winning player will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1000/-

This is a team event. Each team can have 2 participants. Entry fee is Rs. 100/- per team.

All the participants will be awarded participation certificates. This event is scheduled on 28th February 2015.

Event Format:
Round 1: This round will have 30 multiple-choice questions. Top 10 teams from this round will advance to the next round.
Round 2: This is a visual identification round. Teams will have to sound a buzzer to answer. Top 4 teams from this round will advance to the next round.
Round 3: The qualified teams will be allotted 15 minutes for the final hardware assembling.

2. Participants should bring along their original receipts.

3. Spot registration will be subject to availability of spots.
