Brightsource Building The World’s Largest Solar Thermal Power Plant Near Las Vegas

A huge thermal power plant is being developed to cash in on the sunny days' sunny effect, producing as much as 370 megawatts of electricity if the sun shines right. Witnesses in the wilds outside Las Vegas, the $2.2 billion project by Brightsource spreads across 3,600 acres of land near Ivanpah, California.

The first application concerning this project was filed way back in 2007, and the approval came by in 2010. Construction dulled down a bit when the team discovered the endangered desert tortoises, which needed to be protected and relocated. At the present rate, the product is scheduled to get finished by next year. The energy derived from these solar panels shall be utilized to heat up the water and power steam turbines. The prices of solar panels have dropped down considerably in the last few years, and the simplicity with which it store energy makes it a good choice to use even after dusk.
