BMW's Headlight To Feature LASER

A car does not only achieve a top market place because of its engine but also on account of its technology. Auto giant BMW is planning to bring LASER technology in its automobiles which is touted as a next logical step in its bid to make its cars Hi-tech. The car maker is in the leading position in external accessories because of the introduction of Anti-dazzle High- Beam Assistant and LED headlamps in BMW 6 series. BMW earns credit for its Dynamic Light Spot technology which illuminates pedestrians and guides the driver while driving in dark.

BMW to bring LASER light technology

The important thing here is, whether integrating LASER technology in this case is safe or not? It is safe. Actually it is already implemented in automobiles. It mind sound a little strange but even though LASER is a high intensity coherent light source, it does not affect harmfully to humans. When the technology is installed in place of headlights, it is converted to a bright and white light so that it appears pleasant to the eyes. BMW is taking in to account the possible advantages that can be tapped once it is installed.

The company does not intend to change the exterior structure/ design of its cars. The head light will look to be of the same size. The significant change which will be observed will be in its depth. #-Link-Snipped-# in this regard mean that the customers can enjoy something similar to a LCD version of head lamps like the television.

LASER is inherently an efficient source of light. It consumes less energy and enjoys a longer life than its LED counter parts. In terms of brightness, it is 1.7 limes as bright as the LED head lamps. So if we have LEDs producing 100 lumens light then LASER light is 170 lumens bright. Moreover as it will lead to a size reduction, it also means that more lights can be used to fill up the remaining space. Else perhaps the company plans to use the saved space for installing some other applications.

However one thing is for sure that it will be a positive modification in external peripherals of the automobile. BMW has not given a probable date until when it will make the upgrade public.
