Blackberry Attacked By Trojan

If you are feeling that your blackberry phone or any other blackberry device is secure and protected, here is something you must read for sure. A trojan has been detected which renders every blackberry device useless by its attack. Adding to this, the worst part is that the user will never know whether his phone has been attacked or not. This trojan is called as the “Zeus Trojan” and is identified as BBOS_ZITMO.B. The interesting thing is that it removes itself from the list of applications instead of giving a GUI to stay undetected.

#-Link-Snipped-#After the installation is complete the Zeus Trojan sends a confirmation message to the number of the administrator (U.K.) to signify that it is now well set and ready to receive commands. The figure alongside shows the scenario. This trojan monitors the personal information of the user especially in the case of internet banking as claimed by Amit Nath , country manager, India and SAARC at Trend Micro. Jagannath Patnaik, director, channel sales south Asia at Kaspersky Lab, says: "There has been a new wave of malware attack that has started affecting BlackBerry and it has originated from Poland. The aim is to extract banking passwords."  [As quoted by Business News Today: Read Latest Business news, India Business News Live, Share Market & Economy News | The Economic Times]

This virus carries out the following commands:
  • It can forward a SMS to the hacker without the knowledge of the owner.
  • It can block calls.
  • It can remove block calls.
  • It will treat the unmonitored SMS as a normal SMS and will display it on the screen.
  • It also sees to it that it can drop an SMS i.e. an SMS sent by the hacker cannot be read by the user.
  • It can register a new administrator.
  • On/Off functions
  • Add/remove/set sender.
  • Block/unblock phone numbers.
Now this is what you call mind mangling madness. Imagine a day when the police are at your doorsteps to arrest you for a cyber crime not done by you? This is really a cause of concern and a thing to be worried of. As this virus can spread on its own, it is mandatory so load some spyware like MobiSpy, MobiStelath and FlexiSpy which cost between $40 and $80.

So all the BlackBerry users should see to it that they have one of these spywares loaded and of course should stop installing out-of-the-box applications.
