ASUS VivoTab Note 8 Unveiled At CES; Runs Windows 8.1 On Intel Atom Z3740 ‘Bay Trail’ Processor

ASUS unveiled its new Windows 8.1 tablet at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014. The ASUS VivoTab Note 8 runs Windows 8.1 with the help of a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z3740 processor and 2GB of RAM. It has an 8-inch IPS panel display with a HD resolution (1280 x 800 pixels). ASUS has been kind enough to throw in a Professional Wacom Digitizer Stylus which has got over an thousand points of pressure accuracy to handle not just your scribbles but also your carefully drawn doodles. The VivoTab Note 8 uses solid state drive for storage and one can find up to 64 GB of space. It also allows you to expand the storage by using a microSD card slot which can handle another 64GB of storage. The company also throws in one year’s worth of unlimited ASUS WebStorage for free.

ASUS uses SonicMaster audio technology on its rear-facing stereo speakers to give better audio experience. ASUS has stuck with the norm and given the VivoTab Note 8 a 5MP rear camera and an HD-capable camera on the front. The unit is powered by a 15.5Whr (Watt Hours) battery and ASUS claims that it can last for “a working day” before needing a refill from the sockets. The ASUS VivoTab Note 8 measures 220.9 x 133.8 x 10.95mm and weighs 380 grams. While the official #-Link-Snipped-# does not state the pricing and availability details, the folks at #-Link-Snipped-# have done some digging and found out that the VivoTab Note 8 is scheduled to be shipped “either late in the first quarter or early in the second”. The prices of the 32GB model will start from $299 (18,629 INR) and go up to $349 (21,698) for the 64GB internal memory variant.
