Apache 2.4 Released After 6 Years Wait To Celebrate 17th Birthday

Apache Server Foundation has just released the 2.4 version of the popular HTTP server. Apache continues to be one of the most preferred HTTP servers on the Internet with over 400 million websites using it to deliver the web pages to web browsers. Apache HTTP server was first released to the world on 21 February, 17 years ago. As all of you'd expect, the 2.4 release features a ton of improvements and new features especially suited for the cloud environments. Webmasters can expect enhanced performance, lesser resource hogging, better concurrency, lowered memory usage, asynchronous I/O support, dynamic reverse proxy configuration, performance at-par with the event driven web-servers, granular timeout, rate/resource limiting and better caching support. Vice President of the Apache HTTP Server Project, Mr. Eric Covener says that this new release brings a host of evolutionary enhancements which the developers & web administrators will love.
