Taurus Sedan Is The First Among Talking Cars By Ford

Ford motor company, the first one to start assembly line concept more than a century ago is now working on intelligent vehicles. The latest technology will empower cars to communicate with each other in many cases which presently require the driver to monitor personally. Ford is working on Wi-Fi communication which will enable to keep track of obstacles in all directions. The Taurus sedan would be the first one to in line to have this. In the era when road traffic is increasing day by day, this would mean a significant reduction in the number of accidents. As per a rough estimate, we have 800 million cars alone as per a rough estimate on roads at this instant.

Ford motor company is eying a public private partnership for a secured channel which would be used for communication. The concept basically revolves around using short range communication and a supporting channel. It aims at making vehicle like a cell phone like gadget which has made our life convenient. The Wi-Fi technology being developed will make 360^o detection of objects possible. The current options available in this respect are the Radar technology. However Radar based options can detect objects only in a straight line which renders it difficult for driver to drive in a case of obstructed vision. The car also uses GPS technology. The in-built computer processes this information and takes corrective action.

The public private partnership would require a common communication channel or language which will be incorporated in all the vehicles. If this design is implemented, it would mean a smooth traffic flow, not to mention a comfortable drive. This Private public tie-up is expected to develop a common platform to add this modification by 2013. Ford is currently in talks with Federal Government about this project.

The advantages of this concept are many. The first would be that, it will save a lot of fuel which is otherwise wasted in heavy traffic. Wi-Fi technology would also make it easy for the driver to avoid a crash at an intersection because sometimes it is very difficult to judge is there is a vehicle coming from other end or not.

Taurus Sedans by Ford will be launched soon, this summer bringing a new competition among all electric and hybrid vehicles to adapt these changes.
