Automatic Beam Switching Headlights
When a vehicle is driven on the highway at night, it is required that light beam should be of high illuminance and should illuminate the road at a distance sufficiently ahead. However, when a vehicle coming in the opposite direction approaches the vehicle with a high-beam headlights, the driver of that vehicle will experience a glare, which may blind him. This dazzle effect is one of the major problems faced by a driver in night driving.
To avoid this temporary blindness, headlights are provided with separate low beam and high beam bulbs or filaments. Switching to the low beam light whenever a vehicle approaches in the opposite direction reduces the dazzle to the oncoming driver. In practice, one mechanical dimmer switch is used by the driver to manually select high or low headlight beam.
However, this is an awkward task for the driver especially during peak traffic. This project is a smart solution for safe and convenient night driving without the intense dazzling effect and aftermaths.
This System for Automobiles does automatic switching between high beam and low beam headlights when there is a vehicle coming from front at night. It detects itself whether there is light from the front coming vehicle or not.
When there is light from front coming vehicle of higher illuminance, it automatically switches to the low beam headlight light and when the vehicle passes it automatically switch back to high beam headlight.
