Xiaomi Yi Sports Camera Is The Incredibly Cheap Alternatve To GoPro Action Cams

The Xiaomi brand has become immensely popular for introducing gadgets that offer pathbreaking specifications for incredibly low prices, making them a must-have for the masses. Be it in the smartphone domain or Smart TVs, Xiaomi currently rules the roost with its superb portfolio of devices. Today, they have unveiled their first action camera with Xiaomi Yi Sports Camera. With this gadget, it has entered the territory dominated mostly by GoPro series of cameras. Priced at a mere 399 CNY which roughly converts to $64 or Rs. 3,900. It is not only the price that's appealing with the Xiaomi Yi Sports Camera. The camera actually offers some of the greatest features in a compact body, rendering it a worthy competitor to GoPro cameras.

Let's check out the Yi Camera specifications. Alongside the ability to capture 60 FPS video in both 1080 pixel and 720 pixel modes, the Xiaomi Yi can not only capture super wide-angle 16 million pixels photographs, but also a 155 degree view angle. Equipped with a Sony BSI sensor, the Yi Camera packs support for 64GB microSD card and can capture 7 FPS trajectory pictures and underwater pictures at 40 meters (if you buy the waterproof shell separately). For capturing great shots, there's 3D noise reduction, H.264 high-fidelity codecs, digital image stabilizer and MCTF (motion compensated temporal filtering technology).

Wow..finally a device I would love to know what 'specs' it has. But how good the digital image stabilizer can be, comparing to optical one?

It's amazing how when Xiaomi launches a new product, one starts feeling it is within our reach. 😀 It's a good feeling. Now I feel like owing an action sports camera.

Few years back my perception was, these cheaper electronics are bad. but, now I can say that big names are just robbing the customers. Yes, these cheaper things will not be as long life or quality build as GoPro but definitely more than worth the price. With extension handle and case even at INR. 7-8K is steal deal for Yi Sport camera. Perfect gadget for vacations.

See, Galaxy S4 price has dropped from 41K to 17.5K to compete with OnePlus one and Xiomi Mi4.
Is Samsung selling S4 in loss now. Hell no, then think how much they made money when they ware selling at 41K ☕.

Yeah. I know the feeling. I owned the first generation Samsung Galaxy Note (sold at launch for Rs 40K) and then for multiple reasons I had to shift to Xiaomi Redmi 1S and apart from the smaller screen size (which I have come to live happily with), I don't find any difference in the performance and my level of satisfaction from a smartphone I had to have.
