Xiaomi 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer for smartphones launched at CNY 799

Chinese electronics major Xiaomi, in an attempt to step up the game in the handheld products category has added a new product, the 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer, to its extensive Mi Ecosystem. The Shooting Stabilizer will address the lowering trend of selfie sticks and is designed specifically for smartphones. The new product is available via the Mi Home crowdfunding platform for CNY 799 (roughly Rs 7,500).

The Xiaomi 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer offers high-precision photo shooting capabilities by implementing the three-axis stabilization technology with a high-precision screw and special acceleration sensor setup to detect the real-time space position of the smartphone. The stabilizer does three directional adjustments and space angle compensation to counter any unwanted movement or shaking and this maintains a balanced gesture resulting in a stable and smooth picture/video.

It also offers multi-mode shooting which includes omnidirectional movement, horizontal movement, vertical mode and locking direction modes. There are brushless motor holdings, which let the stabilizer rotate from 9-degrees to 30-degrees offering up to 270-degrees of rotation without any distortion while shooting slow-mo videos or shooting at a low shutter speed. The Xiaomi 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer can be used as a handheld or one can just hook it up to a tripod.

Xiaomi claims that the new 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer is made up of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) plastic and fiberglass materials. It measures at 266 x 53 x 43mm and weighs 450 grams carrying a battery pack of 1,050mAh which is enough for 4 hours of shooting. Xiaomi has also addressed the portability issue as the height of this device can be shortened to just 206mm making it easier to carry.

The Xiaomi 3-axis Shooting Stabilizer will compete with the DJI’s Osmo Mobile and though it might lack in some of the features or stabilization levels it is a good value for money proposition at the CNY 799 (roughly Rs 7,500) price point. The product is available in China via the Mi Home crowdfunding platform and there is no further information about the international market availability.
