WhatsApp Voice Call Feature Is Coming To Windows Phones Soon!

After making a blockbuster entry on android phones, WhatsApp Voice Call feature is headed to Windows phones. Apparently, one of the users of WhatsApp on Windows phones received an email from WhatsApp support team that the feature is still in the works. The email reply did not talk about any specific time-frame for the release of the new feature but all the Windows mobile users can now officially begin waiting for the firmware upgrade with the calling feature. According to report published in #-Link-Snipped-#, WhatsApp has said that they cannot comment on the future release timelines - a standard reply they provide to all the rumours.

WhatsApp Voice Calling feature was one of the most awaited features of 2015; with several people receiving the initial invite to test the feature. It was only until the end of March that WhatsApp began rolling out the feature to all the Android users through app update. The crazy want for the calling feature lead to WhatsApp Voice Calling : Beware Of The Scam! as well. If you are a Windows mobile user waiting for voice calling feature to get enabled on your phone - be aware of the scams!

WhatsApp-Windows-Calling

As of writing this article, WhatsApp voice calling feature is only available on the Android platform. Facebook (owners of WhatsApp) have already confirmed that the calling feature will eventually make it to all the platforms but it's not clear whether Windows users will get it before the iOS users. The Blackberry users shouldn't feel left out. Be assured that the calling feature will make it to BBOS as well. What's more important to discuss is whether Is WhatsApp Voice Calling Cheaper Than Regular Calling?. Do let us know your views.

Also note that in the near future, Facebook for Android App Starts Loving WhatsApp is likely to get integrated with WhatsApp.

I have never used the WhatsApp voice calling feature. Ever since its arrival, there has been a lot of discussion going on about it in my circles. I don't think there is any significant change in the amount being charged for voice calls with telecom companies charging for it from my data packet. Unless both the parties are using a free WiFi service, I don't see what's the point. Am I missing something important here?
I have tried Viber calls in the past (just for the sake of it) and found that the audio quality was not up to the mark. Why so much hullabaloo over WhatsApp voice calls? Have any of you around here started using Whatsapp voice calling on a regular basis?

I really think Microsoft can beat WhatsApp in the game. Why not just let Skype App collect mobile numbers of the users and start showing the contacts who are using Skype? Skype's already miles ahead of WhatsApp in terms of technology - it's been offering video messages and chats for centuries now 😉. I just hope Microsoft realises that they've a gem lying in their pockets.

WhatsApp Voice calling will be available for Windows Phone very very late, may be years later. I can attest to that, why? The Facebook application for Windows Phone does not feature mobile calling. They haven't added functionality in ages. I do not think its possible.
I agree with your idea of phone number scanning, it needs to be done as fast as possible. In the current manner you have to add contacts via your outlook or your Skype account which is rubbish in a age where apps have access to your mobile phone contacts.

Sidenote first : - Since I moved from BlackBerry to Windows it was indeed was an eye opener that apps wise Windows phone too shucks. But WhatsApp is one of the very few apps that gets updated in both the minority platforms. (By the way #-Link-Snipped-# , BBOS is different from BlackBerry 10 OS - old and new respectively).

Back to topic. I agree with Ankita. Unlike text messages (I think) voice calls eats into your mobile data usage - unless there is some kind of compression takes place while making calls ( I don't know for sure , just an assumption). I have seen people use any heavy data consuming apps only when they are around a "free and unlimited" (most of the time corporate!) wifi connection is available. For normal text messages they use 2G.
In my opinion only people who really need it are going to use Whatsapp calling - provided it offers the required quality.

#-Link-Snipped-# - I'm aware of the different. I decided to use a common name for BlackBerry OS. Should I correct it?

Well, both are totally different OSs except the common fact that both are BlackBerry proprietary. Even if WhatsApp brings the voice calling feature to BlackBerry phones , it will take them equal but separate effort to bring it on devices running both BBOS and BlackBerry 10.

Should you correct it? I don't think so because I am wielding a Lumia 930 nowadays , ever since my BlackBerry Z30 decided to share my tea!
