TVS iQube Electric Hybrid Scooter India Launch Might Happen By August End
All set to become India's first in-house hybrid electric scooter, TVS's iQube Hybrid might see the light of the launch day on August 23rd this year.
Thanks to the Government of India's FAME India scheme that facilitates the faster adoption and manufacturing of hybrid and electric vehicles, the TVS iQube Hybrid Scooter will be eligible for availing excise duty benefits. Since the FAME subsidy is only valid till September 30, speculations suggest that iQube Scooter may be launched sooner and at a competitive price tag to enjoy all the ongoing benefits.
The first appearance of the scooter happened at the 2010 Auto Expo as a concept model. The hybrid model features a 110cc petrol + electric motor engine with a 4-speed transmission and a lithium-ion batteries pack set.
Ideal for short rides around your city, the iQube Hybrid scooter produces electrical energy routed towards the lithium-ion batteries to recharge them and run the motor. When the speed goes below 20kmph, the bike sources the power from the electric motor.
The bike features two driving modes - Economy and Power. While in the first mode you reduce the carbon emission while enjoying enhanced engine efficiency, in the latter, the system will deliver higher acceleration and power output.
Featuring front and rear drum brakes, the eco-friendly TVS Qube comes with electric start function, LED lights, pillion footrest, pass light and a single seat.
