Turn Any 2D Digital Content Into 3D Holographic Content With Holus

We have all been in this situation; friends and relatives coop up around your smartphone to watch a funny cat video or an embarrassing photo of somebody. The obvious solution that electronics manufacturers suggest is to invest in a media streaming stick that will project that image on to your big screen TV. This might be a good solution but you can make this experience a million times more awesome by investing the same amount of money you do for an Apple Macbook Air. Presenting Holus, a one of a kind creation by Canadian start-up H+ Technology that can convert any 2D digital content into a 3D hologram on any tabletop surface. Whether it’s a video, photo, game or even any app you get a moving 3D hologram in your home.

Holus is a tabletop holographic platform accepts any multimedia content from your smartphone, tablet or PC and creates a hologram that is visible from four sides. Normally holograms are notorious for being visible from specific angles but Holus get round this problem by projecting images from four different perspectives in a pyramid-like structure resulting in 360 degree viewing angles. The pyramid structure is made out of tempered glass to make it durable. If you are using Holus solo, it can detect your movement around the room and project the content from your perspective in real time. Skype and FaceTime calls become much more immersive with the 3D image projection of the person on the other end. Holus supports third party controllers like Emotive Brain Sensor and Leap Motion that help you interact with the hologram with brain waves and gesture recognition respectively.

Holus will be able communicate with your smartphone or PC with the help of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Holus has cleverly added USB charging docks and a tablet holder dock that not only house the smart device but also charge it ensuring longer hologram sessions. The product will be sold in two variants. The Holus Home Edition as the name suggests is a smaller variant with wireless connectivity for end users who just have to download the Holus app for their respective platforms to get started. The Holus Pro Edition is aimed at businesses and developers who are interested in developing their 3D hologram experiences using the Holus Software Development Kit that supports platforms like iOS, Android and Windows and gaming engines like Unity and Unreal Engine. The Pro Edition is bigger and has an additional HDMI port.

Considering the alluring qualities of the product the company has been able to garner funds double its pledge goal of $50,000 CAD within a single day of its launch on Kickstarter. Since all the early bird benefits have been claimed you now have to shell out the retail prices of the product. Pledging $850 gets you the Home variant and you have to shell out a hundred more for the Pro edition.
