Samsung’s New 34-inch QLED Curved Monitor Has Thunderbolt 3 Connectivity

Samsung is gearing up to wow audiences at CES 2018. In this run-up we have seen what its #-Link-Snipped-# has to offer and now let’s have a closer look at a consumer offering, the CJ791 monitor. It’s very hard to make a monitor that will appeal to both casuals and professionals but with the CJ791 Samsung has done it. The new monitor from Samsung is the first monitor in its class to feature Thunderbolt connectivity. This is particularly interesting for MacBook users who sometimes need bigger setup without adding any clutter. Thanks to the Thunderbolt 3 connectivity you can use the CJ791 directly with your laptop without an additional power source. The Thunderbolt 3 also helps you to charge up your laptop with up to 85 watts of power while still receiving video from it. The Thunderbolt 3 connection also provides processing speeds of up to 40Gbps which is four times faster than USB connectivity.

This means you can cram in more viewing area for video editing, spreadsheet processing or movie viewing. The QLED panel on the CJ791 is able to produce 125% of the sRGB spectrum which makes it ideal for Photoshop and movie editing. If you are a gamer and like multiple monitor setups, the CJ791 has slim depth and narrow bezels which makes sure that your setup does not look unwieldy. Gamers would also like to be informed that the CJ791 a dedicated game mode that decreases the response time of the monitor to four milliseconds for smoother transitions.

The curved display with 178-degree viewing angle makes sure that you are immersed in your content. The CJ791 has a height-adjustable stand and tilt functionality so that it can be positioned in a way to suit every individual’s viewing style. Since the CJ791 is to be officially launched at the CES 2018 and this was just a reveal of sorts, Samsung remains tight-lipped about the pricing and availability details. Spoiler alert, it is not going to be cheap.
