Nokia Launches 3 Cheap 3G Phones Priced Around $68 (4,100 INR)

Nokia has launched Nokia 207, Nokia 208 and Nokia 208 Dual SIM phones today aimed at providing 3G connectivity to budget users. Nokia have continued with the ‘candy bar’ styling and provided the removable shell feature so that users can style their phone with any colour they want. To add to the sturdiness, these phones have gapless keypad so that they remain splash proof and dust does not accumulate between keys. Considering the fact that Nokia is planning to sell all three of these phones at prices of around $68 (4100 INR), it is impressive to find features like Mail for Exchange, WhatsApp and USB modem facility and astonishingly Micro SIM slot. Nokia say that the Micro SIM slot has been included to make these three a potential secondary phone for buyers who have smartphones. As you might be aware many smartphones now implement Micro SIM to save space and if the user finds that the smartphone has ran out of juice right in the middle of an important call he can pop his SIM into one of these phones and continue without having to worry about running out of charge since Nokia have claimed that the single SIM ones would last for a month without charge and provide 12 hours of talk time with the help of its 1020mAh battery. Also a unique contacts transfer called Transfer has been included in this phone which can import contacts from all Windows Phone 8 and most Android smartphones.

But for me disappointment comes in form of the camera and here is the reason why. Well the Nokia 207 does not have one and the Nokia 208 (both single and dual SIM) have got a 1.3 MP (1280 x 960 pixels resolution) camera capable of taking underwhelming QVGA (320 x 240) resolution videos. If Nokia would have added a slightly higher resolution lens (3.2 MP preferably) it would have been excellent.

All three of the phones will have 3.5G HSPA internet support along with micro USB connector port, 3.5 mm AV jack and Bluetooth 3.0 with Nokia’s Slam sharing feature. The display measures 2.4-inch and has a QVGA resolution. As compared to other phones of Nokia in this range, these phones have a slightly higher internal memory of 256 MB and a 64 MB RAM. External memory can be expended with the help of microSD cards of up to 32 GB. All three of these phones will be available in red, cyan, white and black variants from the third quarter of 2013.

Nokia still lags in design(again a candy bar shape).
for 4100INR with whatsapp, micro sim , 3.5g it may sound good but a. outdated camera of 1.3mp is disgusting.

These cannot work in the era of long-sized touch screen smart phones armed with a high-res camera.. They cannot attract people by candy bars when people have understood the language of processors and configuration..
