New safety tools in Instagram to discard spam and abusive comments

The most sought after photo sharing application Instagram is now ready to borrow its strength from Artifical Intelligence. Today, in a press release, the company has shown its concern for keeping the Instagram environment a safe haven for its loyal users. A couple of filters are introduced to block offensive comments and remove spams in nine different languages, as reported by the official announcement.

Strictly complying to the users' complain, Instagram will make sure that the application is free from abusive comments. The engineers have developed a filter system based on AI that will block offensive comments from the photos and live videos. However the rest of the comments will be intact and you will still hold the power to report comments, delete comments or turn them off. You will always be able to disable the filter from the settings menu from the profile and position it to tap “Comments.” The filter will first roll out in English and later support different languages.

The other filter is designed to capture spam comments and remove them from the posts. Currently, this particular system supports English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, German, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. The duo is likely to enhance the security of the system and enforce a friendly social culture among all its users.

Further approaching the mass, Instagram has stated that the Machine Learning based tools will rule out the possibility of social bullying and safeguard a healthy conversation. The smart heads of the company were on duty to recognize the spam comments for some time and have originated a better system for all. Like other AI-based tools, the system will learn more with time and gain more experience to handle such issues. The CEO and Co-founder Kevin Systrom concludes the release with the assurance to make Instagram a better place for everyone.
