Motorola, a Lenovo-owned enterprise has unveiled special edition devices- Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus from the Moto G franchise. Building on Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus launched earlier this year, these two new devices come with several upgrades as metal unibody, beefed up battery capacity and improved camera features.
Moto G5S features an all-metal unibody design with a vibrant 5.2” Full HD display (1080p). The beefed up battery capacity is 3000mAh up from Moto G5’s 2800mAh battery power. G5s ‘s TurboPower charging makes for up to 5 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.
Further, the device houses a fingerprint sensor, placed at the bottom of the display. Moto G5S also features the latest Moto Experiences like Night Display and Quick Reply, to name a few. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A hybrid microSD card slot accommodates up to 128GB expandable storage.
The camera features see an improvement with a rear high resolution 16 MP camera with aperture f/2.0 and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). The earlier version featured a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 lens. While on the front, there is a 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie shooter along with an LED flash. This specification remains similar to the earlier version of G5. Moto G5S runs on Android 7.1 Nougat.
The bigger Moto G5S Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is an upgrade over the 5.2-inch Full HD display of G5 Plus. The device is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, similar to earlier version.
Major upgrade however is its Dual 13MP rear camera feature with aperture f/2.0 and special photo enhancement software. It enables bokeh effect for portraits, selective black and white colouring and replacement of background mode. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera along with LED flash and a new panoramic mode. G5 Plus earlier featured a 5-megapixel wide-angle f/2.2 aperture lens as front snapper. The battery support of 3000 mAh remains unchanged for both the devices.
The memory options see an up gradation with the device being offered in two variants- 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, while other sports 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Moto G5S Plus also incorporates a fingerprint reader. On the connectivity front, both the devices support 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Dual-SIM, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB port. The new Moto G’s will be available starting this month in various countries globally.
Moto G5S starts at 249 EUR (approx. Rs 18,883) and Moto G5S Plus starts at 299 EUR (approx. Rs 22,675), both the variants would be available in the US this fall, according to the company statement. They would retail in twin coloured variants of Lunar Grey and Fine Gold.
