LG Electronics has unveiled a new all-in-one 21.5 inch desktop with the Chrome OS and will be launching it at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2014) event in January next year. The LG Chromebase Model number 22CV241, runs the simple and fast Chrome operating system and comes with a 21.5-inch widescreen Full HD IPS display and 178-degree viewing angle. Thanks to Google's Chrome OS, all of its products such as Gmail, Drive, Search, Maps, YouTube, Play or Google+ Hangouts come to the comfort of this desktop. Powered by the fourth-generation Intel Celeron processor enables the LG Chromebase features a 1.3 megapixel webcam that does 720 pixel HD Recording and a microphone for easy video calling. What’s more, this AIO computer delivers clear and powerful sound and music through a pair of built-in 5W speakers.

Under the hood, the Chromebase desktop specs speak of 2GB of RAM and 16GB SSD. There's also an HDMI port, three USB 2 slots, a single USB 3 port and an Ethernet port. There are additional accessories available, such as a keyboard, mouse and a cable tidy. “Simple to operate for all types of users, the award-winning LG Chromebase computer represents the successful combination of simplicity, power and great design,” said Hyoungsei Park, head of the IT Business Division at LG Electronics. “LG Chromebase is the wave of the future for desktops, expected to be widely adopted not only at home, but especially in schools, hotels, call centers and other business settings.”

“LG’s Chromebase is an exciting new form factor that expands the options available to customers who want a fast, simple and secure computing experience for the home, school or office,” said Caesar Sengupta, vice president of product management, Google. “LG Electronics makes great devices that customers love, and we’re glad to welcome them to the Chrome family.” Visitors to LG’s booth at CES 2014 (Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall - 8024) will have the opportunity to see this unique product for themselves between 7-10 January.

As you can see from the images above, look-wise LG Chromebase is very similar to Apple's iMac. But unlike an iMac or a Macbook, LG Chromebase is not well suited for a heavy user. It can be used by anyone who wants to use the power of the Internet - say at Hotel's reception or School's for basic operations. What do you think about the LG Chromebase features?
