Google Glass just made a Comeback with the Glass Enterprise Edition

Google has finally made Google Glass 2.0/ Enterprise edition officially available with revamped and improved design and hardware features. Unveiled way back in 2012 the wearable edition was available in a limited edition as a consumer product but was eventually declared ‘dead’ in 2015. The Glass Enterprise Edition is however now made available to businesses through Google's network of expert partners.

Glass is a very small, lightweight wearable computer with a transparent display that brings information into line of sight. The Enterprise edition helps greatly in work settings where one can clip it onto wearable glasses or industry frames like safety goggles. This enables one to not lose focus between the work especially when one’s hands are busy. The Glass running software shows the workers instructions with videos, animations and images, all in their line of sight so that they don’t have to stop work to check their binders or computer to know what to do next.

The Glass product team back at X, Google’s moonshot factory, quoted in a blogpost, to have developed a customized software and business solution for Glass for people in different fields; as varied as agricultural machinery manufacturing enterprise (AGCO), health care industry (Dignity Health) and supply chain express (DHL) to name a few. Employees are thus able to work smarter, faster and safer since they have the information they need right in their line of sight. With Glass, doctors and nurses at Dignity Health are quoted to be better able to focus on patient care rather than record keeping.

Improvements have also been made to the design and hardware so that it is lightweight and comfortable for long term wear accompanied with an increase in power and battery life as well. The Glass product team plans to collaborate with the Google Cloud team and partners to help customers across a variety of business sectors thereby making the most of Glass, quoted Jay Kothari, Project Lead Glass in the blog post.
