Coolpad Cool Play 6 unveiled; 4060mAh, dual camera and 6GB RAM at Rs. 14,000

Coolpad has just launched its new smartphone, Coolpad Play 6 in China. Although, this device is another addition to the mid-range segment, but it packs some interesting specifications for the price it’s available. At a price tag of CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 14,000) one gets 6GB of RAM backed up by a massive battery of 4060mAh. The name “Play 6” itself screams about the main focus of this device i.e. intense and prolong gaming. Even then, if it does not hit you, the company made this clear during the launch event. As of now, the device is available for registration and sales will start from 16th May.

The device comes in a metallic built with fingerprint scanner on the back. Not a great fan of that positioning, but it’s equally accepted in the tech community. One of the bigger deals in this phone is its 6GB Ram; that’s kind of breaking the barrier. Getting 4GB is a steal deal in this category and we are getting 6 with Coolpad Play 6.

Coming to the basics under the hood, the smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 and is powered by a Snapdragon 653 chipset, whereas the Graphic processing is delivered by Adreno 510 GPU. 64 GB of internal storage is already provided and is easily expandable via microSD card. Even this roughly Rs. 14,000 device comes with a 13MP Dual camera setup from Sony. This technology is rapidly making its way into the mainstream market after iPhone 7’s adoption. Anyways, we get a 8MP f/2.2 front sensor for selfies as well.

According to the company claims, the device gives 8 hours on video loop, 6 hours of intense gaming and a stand by time of 252 hours! To make it a real gaming device, there is a feature called ‘intelligent temperature control technology’ inbuilt within the device. This is to deal with heating up of smartphone after prolong gaming.

Xolo came up with a similar strategy few years back, providing Nvidia GPUs in their smartphones for better gaming performance. Not that successful though, but the times are different. Coolpad Play 6 is surely a commendable attempt of bringing a lot into one cohesive package, especially gaming.
