Bing For iPhone App Features Faster Search, Helps Do More

Microsoft engineers are working on making their search app 'Bing' faster and better. A couple of days back, they released the Bing for iPhone app (version 6.0) on the Apple iTunes Store. In an official blog post that made the announcement, Richard Qian, CVP Bing UX Engineering shared that they have re-thought search for iPhone with the new Bing app. They've not only brought the information you search together, but also connected the apps you trust so that you can search & do things faster. The app works with devices running on iOS 8 or later version. Let's take a look at the new features.

The new search feature on Bing for iPhone lets users search for anything from one single place so that you can focus on searching instead of figuring out where to locate them first. Mobile search is definitely different from the way things operate on the web. There are multiple apps from different providers and there is no single place of looking through the stuff on your phone locally.

With new Bing 6.0, that has now changed. If you want to search for a new movie, you don't need to go to every movie app and search individually. You just use the unified search and using deep links, Bing brings you content as search results from across all apps on your device. Same goes for all the video and music files.

The touch-optimised interface on the new Bing app lets you search for things such as the perfect restaurant for a particular occasion. The search helps you figure out things such as menus, reservation availability, reviews, directions to the place, if you can get a ride there etc. right from one-stop Bing search. Same goes for booking movie tickets at nearby cinema theatres.

In a nut-shell, the new Bing app for iPhone brings the following features -
  1. Redesigned homepage
  2. Menu to find all your bookmarks, search history and Bing Rewards
  3. App search in addition to normal web search
  4. Offline mode to access links you've visited before even when you don't have internet connection
