Photo Interpretation :

PHOTO INTERPRETATION

  • Object Recognition       Aerial photographs taken form low altitude are rather convenient to interpret but those taken from a high altitude present an unfamiliar view of objects and hence there is difficulty in recognition of objects .Objects of similar shape may get mixed up. thus a photo interpreter is required to be:-

     .  Keen observer

.  Should have sharpness of mind.

       Size

Objects can be differentiated from each other on the basis of their size,eg; road vs runway, village vs city etc.

Shadow

On vertical photographs shadow gives us information about the configuration and height of an object.

At times shadows hide important information.

Pattern

Pattern means specific arrangement of objects on ground.

Tone

The light and shade effect on a photograph is known as it’s tone.

  • Texture

Various component parts of an object. It may also be called as the degree of roughness .

  • Relationship

By putting all the foctors together intelligently we can recognize the objects on ground.
